There’s some good advice here, one thing I’ll say is that if you feel bad about the state of the country/world, the best way to get over that is by organizing. There’s studies talking about people who get involved are more optimistic about the future. Being around people who are actively trying to make a better world can do wonders for combatting doomerism. Join a leftist cause or a mutual aid group (not a charity) and build something.

“The guy’s filthy rich” part doesn’t sit well with it just being “consenting adults”

Would all parties be okay with the situation if money wasn’t a factor? Moneyed society can add coercion to places that would otherwise be amoral.

(Yes, it would be amoral as in without moral consideration. As opposed to immoral or against morality)
