Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Tuesday that his department would redirect $1.73 billion in Biden-era grants away from establishing “DEI bike lanes” to build roads and bridges instead.
Upon hearing “equity,” President Donald Trump’s goons can’t help but get triggered into attacking any federal spending that won’t benefit them directly. In reality, those Biden-era grants directed funds to build a new transit center in North Carolina, replace bridges in New Mexico, extend streets in New Hampshire, install traffic lights and crosswalks in Missouri, and install bike lanes in Seattle, among other projects. Now the financial status of these projects is unclear.
At this point, i would vote for a planet-killing asteroid if i could. Why are Americans allowing this to happen?

“Bike lanes and segregated bike paths infringe on my rights to run them over in my jacked up diesel spewing monster truck!”
God this is so fucking stupid
Which is a ringing endorsement for cycling enthusiasts and environmentalists.
Also, release the Trump-Epstein files.
the Epstein files is up in the news.
Bikes can’t be in the road because the demographic that drives oversized trucks can’t be bothered to lose 2 seconds on their drive, and bikes can’t be in their own isolated lane. I guess if you can’t afford a car you should just be locked in a box.
On a scale from DEI to communism, how woke are you?
This is dumb, but arguably bike lanes do promote inclusion.
they’re no more DEI than vehicle lanes
Yeah, pretty sure they dont actually care what the initialism means, its just a word to scare their base into opposing progress and give them more control.
It’s a sure-fire way to get your MAGA audience to stop thinking, and start raging.
Ironic because a pretty common argument against bike lanes is that they’re ‘ableist’ because not everyone can ride a bike, an insane argument to make when talking about cars. (Not to mention bike lanes benefit car drivers as well)
Are they not?
they definitely are. only gay people would ride bikes. I should know, I’m huge into bikes. but I don’t ride them, of course. that’d be gay.
I mean that they’re inclusive of poor people. Almost anyone can afford a bicycle. Only rich people can afford a car
Also bicycle infrastructure makes our cities more equitable
Oh stfu.
I mean, yeah, they are, and that’s the whole reason why they exist. Literally to include a more diverse set of transportation options on roads, providing a path towards equity for those unable to afford a vehicle, and including those and others in the usage of roads.
“Goddam libruls wanna take our
gunscars!”The will of the people is DEI
