Discord servers can be archived thanks to projects like DiscordChatExporter, honestly often better than forums (since forums often have CF to prevent attacks and bots etc), but I think not many people know about.
The biggest problem is Discord doesn’t respect your privacy unlike forums hosted by communities usually do.

It depends on whether the projects want to target their devs (forums, GitHub, etc) or end-users of their projects (Discord).
Problem is that it’s not archivable. Tech discord servers are like that and it’s really annoying.
