I don’t know why but in my country is very widespread the torrefacto coffee, that shit is disgususting, and almost everywhere you order coffee is always torrefacto (except in proper coffee shops, they are getting popular lately).
And in lot of places they make it even worse, so I would say that the chances are pretty high here.

Sounds like the process is less of an issue and more the fact that it’s used to cover up low quality coffee beans.
