Recently saw an old video of Adam Lanza (school shooter) playing dance dance revolution really well. I had seen it forever ago but recently stumbled on it again. Without context it’s just some skinny kid crushing it at DDR. But, with hindsight its one of the most uncomfortable videos to watch I can think of. So, media of any kind that isn’t inherently a problem but with additional context becomes freaky.
Alter your perspective a bit. That video shows the duality of the human condition. Everybody has multiple sides. Wife beaters can be wonderful to their dogs, or excellent mentors at work. We are all capable of incredible charity and cruelty at the same time.
Look at it not as a creepy video of someone that did something wrong, but instead a sad video showing the lost human potential that was corrupted by some force in his life.
Yes… that’s exactly why it makes me so uncomfortable.
