I feel obligated to say that in no way do I condone the actions of Jeffery Epstein and others like him.

The only real selling point of any of these is “Not gmail.”

Like. Sure. If you email your friend from your $redacted e2ee military-grade encryption account, and your friend also has the same provider of their e2ee military-grade encrypted email account, then yes. They’re encrypted, and $redacted can’t really provide much if they get subpoenaed. If your friend is using gmail? Your emails are being read by gmail.

They often have other features, like I have a catch-all mailbox set up for my domain because I’d rather give lemmy$date@example.com than my actual email for various reasons. But their privacy ends where gmail begins.

Ya, the main reason I use alias’ at this point is because when an account gets compromised I can just change the email and password. Helps that I can also just disable emails that are only getting mailing lists too.

Its actually a bit crazy that this person, highly connected, clearly associated with intelligence assets globally, perhaps one themselves (not working for mossad 😉 remember that!), didn’t require better opsec of themselves, their associates (at least Maxwell). I don’t recall if they set up their own e-mail server or if they used a service, but e2ee encryption with full disk encryption, and then refusing to cooperate… As far as I know they had nothing but basic password protection. In that case, if you physicaly control the laptops, its almost inevitable that someone is going to be able to view the contents.

Any one know if e2ee and full disk encryption would be sufficient? I’m not talking about crazy hypothetical edge cases. Basic e2ee and full disk encryption to me is just standard for… well practically everything. I would consider that basic hygiene for being on the modern internet, along with a proper VPN like mulvad.

Another aside and something to recognize, the accused here don’t think of themselves as engaging in wrongdoing. Its a cult of power and privileged, the point of which is that the rules don’t apply. Even after 2008, these people continued to engage with Epstein. A big part of this is psychological.

I remember reading some of the files, and seeing a whoooooool lot of gmail addresses.

Track everything we do, but let this all fly under the radar…

As advanced as Israel is regarding their internet knowledge, I’m surprised at how bad some of their online stuff is, and I can’t figure out if it’s by design. bash dot org was IDF, and it’s terribly simplistic. thisishamas dot com was also run by the IDF, and it’ll make your heard hurt how badly it was designed.

Taking a moment to mention that it’s not hard to set up PGP for your emails, and most desktop clients that I’ve randomly looked at support it

Yes, but then everybody you wish to talk to also needs a PGP key, and GPG, the most common PGP impldmentation isn’t actually that secure. It still supports dedeated encryption algorithms and some nasty exploits.

Epstein got, well, Epstein’d. Jean-Luc Brune got Epstein’d. John Casablanca, dead. Ghislaine Maxwell, prison. Prince Andrew lost all titles in UK monarchy. Bill Gates got divorced over his ties to Epstein, got an STD apparently as well. Harvey Weinstein career is in the shitter, as is Woody Allen’s, and Brett Ratner made the Melania movie.

That would be stupidest PR & Marketing stunt of all time!

By the way, I am about to create a thread about Capitalism & Rich-Super Rich Economic Classes/Owners can do & get away with, that relates to what you are saying in this thread starting post. The people really are not exposed, redactions & being forced to release the more small amount of the files. Would not be surprised if the redacted cannot be un-redacted, redacted right after creation & on the originals, with both parties & huge money donors have members that have been redacted from the files & never have a majority of the files released.
