Was recently in an argument on memes@lemmy.ml and was shamed for “Being against Palestine” (which is absurd. I support Palestine, but apparently voting for Kamala over Trump because the former had the better stance on transpeople is somehow a bad thing?)
And I recently saw I could no longer reply or even up or down vote.
When I went to check my posts they were marked with “Banned from Community”
I’d expect a message direct to me to explain this, but I didn’t get one.
I have seen this marker on other users. Alongside just “banned”
So just asking what’s the difference between banned and banned from community?

I was hoping that’s what that meant.
Yip. Mods are different to admins, who run the instance. Admins can ban you from an instance which means you can’t participate in any communities on their instance.
If your own instance admins ban you, that’s the kind of ban that will stop you being able to log in to your account.
