“Diversity is our biggest strength”, the diversity in Linux distros can be kinda toxic. Like everyone is sooo defensive that they have the best distro (kinda like denominations in Christianity). While Linux forums are an abundance of knowledge and info there will always be fights in the comments.

Fortunately people posing in linuxmemes are probably not a representative sample of any general population.

I think most people don’t care too much which distro (or christian denomination). And for most people it shouldn’t (hopefully doesn’t/won’t) matter.

It’s just a cultural thing like a football team. I’d think people Just pick one that they think is reasonably popular (or the one that people close to you pick, or inherit it from your teachers/parents) and hope it doesn’t cause too many problems.

If worst comes to worst you can always dual-boot or QEMU (agnostically) and hope none of the zealots notice. Or build your empire on blendOS like the Romans.

I use debian and arch btw. and actually mostly windows - if you count 7.5 hours a day for about 225 days a year. I don’t think I’m likely to get burned at the stake though - most people will never know that I’m such a filthy two-faced lying whore.

I feel this every time I install a new windows PC and need to download anything.

Sign in with your Microsoft account?

    Import from chrome?

    Choose a theme?

    Such AI’s dick?

    Fuck off.

The picture is not entirely correct.

First, the windows tank if full of holes, with new ones drilled every day, and Linux is not just an emergency fix.

You can basically just ask Google or an ai how to get your program working on Linux and get correct instructions immediately

If you can do that and actually follow those instructions you don’t need any coding experience to use Linux

I was a little surprised that AI was actually not too off, or at least when it was, it was because it misunderstood the distro I used. I don’t think it’s a good idea to go beyond basics though, like installing random stuff from the AUR to fix something can go horribly wrong.

Ya, I was playing around with I think auto mounting? When I was new to Linux and asked ai for help. It ended up bricking my system, Luckily I documented what it said to do and was able to boot into recovery and reverse it.
