I have mixed feelings. Setting aside that Meta is a trash company, I wish no one used it, but unfortunately, it has replaced Craigslist in the US.
I see A LOT of fake accounts on facebook. I’ve seen people I know get all their photos stolen and used to scam men online. I’ve seen random clones of other accounts for people I know slinging crypto scams.
Facebook needs to do something about that. There are too many media illiterate people on Facebook to do nothing.
That said, I’d rather this not be the way they handled it.

You describe a lot of terrible experience but also explain that it is a necessity because it has replaced Craigslist.
I’d assume one can manage without an online marketplace when given conditions like these?
I too miss the Facebook marketplace but I wouldn’t give in to all this crap just to have access to it
Facebook is acutely aware of the scams and actively encourages it.
