I’d also like to add working together helped us succeed. Some humans would hunt while others tended fires, weaved baskets, prepared food and other tasks. Splitting that labor and skill across the group let the whole group benefit from it.

It might actually be the oposite. An ancient human trying to dig a hole with their hands got bored or frustrated by the task and started using a stick to make it easier. Whereas something like a dog will keep focused on digging that hole until its exhausted or got what it was after.

Canadian gun culture and American gun culture is very very different. Unless you are on a range or hunting, you cannot have your firearm loaded or even unlocked in Canada. Most guns are limited to 5 rounds in the magazine and there are strict regulations around barrel length. Canada also has a loose gun registry for many of the firearms sold. Canada doesn’t have stand your ground or castle laws but genuine self defense is often okay after lengthy court processes.

It was just starting out around that time, hence why it wasn’t much of a concern in my earlier semesters. Plus they had better in class controls for cheating like monitoring computers and in person exams instead of online. You would have got an instant fail if you got caught using AI or plagarism on your projects.

It didn’t sit right with me. I made the deans list each semester before that for good grades. I wanted no speculation that my grades were influenced by AI in the next semester. In a competitive job market, making the deans list consistently could absolutely stand out among other candidates. It shows respect for deadlines and the education.

I decided not to finish my college program partially because of AI like chatgpt. My last 2 semesters would have been during the pandemic with an 8 month work term before. Covid ended up canceling the work term and would give me the credit anyway. The rest of the classes would all be online and mostly multiple choice quizs. There wasn’t a lot of AI scanning tech for academic submissions yet either. I felt if i continued, I’d be getting a worse product for the same price (online vs in class/lab), wont get that valuble work experience, and id be at a disadvantage if i didnt use AI in my work.

Luckily my program had a 2 year of 3 year option. The first 2 years of the 3 year is the same so i just took the 2 year cert and got out.

All the ads will say they recycle and that they repurpose old furniture but I was threatened with being fired when I recommended donating antiques instead of dumping a load of furniture.

More jobs and more profits comes before anything else in that company, including employee health and safety. Several times I was told to enter spaces we werent trained for (attics and crawl spaces) and carry waste I legally couldn’t transport (human/organic wastes and the laws states the driver is fined, not the company). One guy injured his shoulder during an attic job and was told to finish the shift or lose his job. Absoulte scum of a company with very sleazy management and possibly the labour board in their pocket as they kept “losing the files” when I tried to file a report with buddy’s shoulder (he was hesistant to report for fear of losing his job).
