  • Nice! I’m from and still live in the same city that Mullvad is from. See people with Mullvad and other privacy, foss etc. stickers on their bags around town pretty often. Just a few days ago I saw a dude with a white hard cover backpack with a huge Mullvad sticker in the middle and a “Make Orwell fiction again” sticker right below it, I had to compliment him on it and we had a chat for a bit about the fediverse and other stuff!

Edit: ooh, forgot that there was Mullvad ads on the trams and tramstops all over the city a while back, was awesome to see something local you actually like and support like that!

  • I have to use Ubuntu (22.04 specifically) because I’m stuck with a 15yo laptop that can’t handle much at all so I game via Shadow which only supports that Ubuntu version… it sucks and it’s dumb but it’s the best option. It’s a constant fight against making it not auto update and run things automatically. If I have Shadow running and anything else becomes active the laptop goes into full jet engine mode and I have to pause the game or whatever I’m doing on the Shadow client, and often close it completely, or else it all crawls to a complete stop. It seems no matter what I do it refuses to stop qutomatically checking for updates whenever it feels like it via the several apps used to do so (software updater, snap store etc.). It does this a few times a day, it’s so fucking annoying but nothing I’ve tried fully works. I dream of getting to use Linux Mint, Arch and a few other distros, but so far it doesn’t seem like Shadow will expand their Linux support.

  • “to live in the past” is so fucking dumb, it shows that the person who wrote that title and the publisher who approved it thinks depending in AI, not caring about the data collected from you, jumping into whatever new popular thing and never having any critical thoughts about where this is all going is a good thing and the future.
They’re actually living in the now and making choices from that and for the future, they understand the objectively bad practices and shitty behaviour of the late stage capitalism we’re living in.

  • Here in Sweden I have over 20 choices of providers, many with specific a focus. One that is superb, which is the one I have, don’t do any tracking or information gathering at all. They are fully focused on privacy, an open Internet and have helped countries in need, like Ukraine, with hardware to keep Internet access on. They’ve been raided and taken to court over not following the required IP address storage laws and some other things of deliberately not collecting information. Their newsletter is so good too, all about privacy and relevant tech news. Seriously couldn’t dream of a better ISP.
