It isn’t just the company leader. It is the brigade of product managers, pricing accountants and more that are involved in these types of corporate consensus decisions.
There is a fleet of people who see their bonuses, commissions, and rev share increasing.
Greed is contagious.

I abandoned many brands many years ago. They provide me nothing of value so I don’t give them my money.
Weirdly enough, business would advance or develope if there wasn’t something to be gained. Or funded, and you need an excess of liquid cash to fund new things.
It is a weird cycle, and I agree not good. It is just weird how intertwined it all is.

The anti-consumer practices going on in business right now are becoming insane.
I read most the article. Having been in print in the past I remember how PDFs are the primary document format the world over. And that it got so big that Adobe licenses off the format to a legal firm that manages it for them. I remember there being something about a PDF2 format being implemented behind the scenes that most people aren’t aware of.
PDF2 is capable of a lot more and is more efficient. However most of that increased capability is used for control and monitoring.
