This mainly involves putting together a new version of the game that uses Peer to Peer servers for co-op play. The gameplay and flow of your experience will remain virtually identical, but will not need the use of dedicated servers in the cloud. This will allow you to continue playing with your friends when you desire and importantly, solo play will be completely unaffected.
It’s not easy breaking a cycle. Four months is a big deal.
Hopefully his next game is something really cool.
I hope you’re right. I have half expected AI to be dealt to students in the way every student gets Office 365.
I am just nervous is all. Maybe each “Student” profile gets a set number of tokens but you can upgrade to “Student+” for more. I joke but I’m scared.
I will say AI has been an accessibility boon for ESL students, who regularly show the most depth in work I’ve seen.
I’m a bit stuck at what to do. It’s not going anywhere, but students seem to be worse at communicating from my experience. I don’t want to fall to confirmation bias so I won’t say I know that’s a broad truth, but it’s been my experience.
I’m hearing a lot of Universities, not just in California, are embracing it. Often policy is just that students have to note the use of AI but then it’s okay as university policies. Professors can still say no in their syllabus, but how long will that be a thing for plus it doesn’t deter from my experience.
I think we need to do a lot of research into how to ensure reluctant learners can be taught with AI being a thing. I know for a lot of writing heavy classes they have turned to physical writing in the classroom.
I wonder how normal this was. I really deeply love the Oblivion soundtrack.
Even the music proved unusually challenging. Initially, the music was contracted out to Jeremy Soule—who composed the music for The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind around this time, and would go on to write scores for Oblivion and Skyrim. Hiring Soule should have been a slam dunk for Legend. Yet Dahlgren began getting feedback from his team that the music was “not what we signed up for”.
Dahlgren looked into it: “I saw that he was subcontracting to other people, and the stuff that was being produced by those other people was not the standard that I was holding the game to.” In the end, the bulk of the musical score was done by Tommy Tallarico’s production company. “Tommy came in and created some outstanding pieces.” Dahlgren says.
The track pads are for sure unique and cool. The lack of proper adjustable short-throw triggers and the non-mechanical buttons will feel bad to what I am used to. I may still get one for the reason you point out though, I could play Age of Empires with it and further embrace my casual nature.
There are so many videos of people going through insane quantities of controllers. I would say to take each with a grain of salt though, as a lot of preference comes in. For me, I wanted mechanical buttons + triggers, buttons on the back, and an option to switch to short triggers that felt better than a lot of the ones where a feeble piece of plastic seems to just slide in the way. I tried quite a few, gave some to friends, and ended up championing the GameSir Cyclone 2. It is not perfect, but it works with my Linux setup and feels great with all the clickyness everywhere. My gripe is how the thing looks: it isn’t a pretty controller in my opinion. I think I got mine for around $50 with the dock included. I think standard is $50 without dock and $10 more for with the dock.
I do have my eyes on some other options though. Mostly because the start and select buttons are in a stupid spot on the Cyclone 2. Nothing has swayed me away from it yet though, and that has only been a problem in games where I push those very very frequently (I have no navigation skills and open my maps very often).
I appreciate the enthusiasm but the controller market offers way more than you think. There are fantastic controllers with great hardware and software for less than a standard Xbox controller. I went deep after two Xbox controllers failed fairly quickly and I expect great things from any controller that is $100. I’ve gotten used to mechanical switches, strong layouts, software and software-free options with onboard memory, and so on.
This looks fun (and free). Westwood is one of those studios I think of and miss at least once a year. NoX remains an underrated gem.
