I would argue that people putting prompts into an AI engine are just about the furthest thing possible from artists. They aren’t creating anything. The AI is.

I mean, the reason is as given. Many people have difficulty keeping track of the several dozen names/initiatives they want to vote for, in addition to the (purposely, these days) onerous process of voting in person at polling places.

If we can remove barriers to voting, we absolutely should. If it is a struggle for voters to keep track of everyone and everything on the ballot, and voting by mail helps solve that, then that is a fantastic solution.

I came across a very narrow, 5 story store in Japan, a bit off the beaten path in Akihabara, selling exclusively N scale model trains. They had a floor or two dedicated just to the models, another one for scenery, and at least one just for repair parts for your trains. It was really cool to get to see a store that was pretty clearly a passion project for the owner(s) apparently doing well, and filling quite the niche in the hobby (I imagine)

I spent about 6 months living in Japan in the last year, and had zero trouble getting Yen. There are plenty of ATMs around, especially inside the konbinis, and the fee was rarely more than $1 or $2. At the time, ¥10,000 cost me roughly $66. My debit card barely (if at all) stacked any foreign transaction fees, and I was able to pay for a fair amount of things with my credit card, again with zero foreign transaction fees.

I completely agree. I’m just saying the insidious follow on effects to conning voters (while more serious and dangerous) are less tangible to average Americans than knowing whether to avoid meat or not, from where, and what the consequences of getting it wrong are. I’m slightly more concerned over whether my lasagna for dinner tonight is going to put me in the hospital than the GOP continuing to lie to the American people. The real answer is the 24hr media cycle absolutely has time to cover both topics in depth, and they should be doing so. The role of the media is to help hold those in power accountable, and we’re seeing a historic failure of that right now.

I was driving home from the dealership after buying my last car, and the second I felt the wheel jerk out of my hands to take a corner on the highway differently than I typically do (I still stay in the lane, ofc), that shit got turned off and will never be reenabled. One of the most dangerous things is the car doing something unexpected while someone is driving and they try to correct/overcorrect for it out of shock/surprise and cause a crash.

I had a Surface Pro all through college, and used it for note taking in all my classes (pen on screen), which was fantastic. Haven’t really used the touchscreen function since though, and it’s been quite a few years.
