It makes it really hard to tell where it’s okay to walk, since the line is invisible, so someone saying “I was walking in this public forest, and there’s no obvious marking here” is a viable defence in court.
But if there’s a fence, which is where I usually see these signs, they’re pointless at best, or a threat of violence at worst.
