In Sweden that is the case. We have something called “allemansrätten” directly translated to all-mans-right, or, the freedom to roam. So, as long as there are no fences, you can walk around wherever you like. You are even allowed to pass through big animal enclosures as long as you don’t disturb the animals or so.
Now that makes tons sense to me!
Why would some put up a sign saying No Trespassing, without a fence to instantly communicate property boundaries? It should never be enforceable without fencing.
Yet, again, a Scandinavian country has it right over The USA.
I think in some states in USA you are not allowed to shoot the tresspasser unless you have asuch sign? So it fills a purpous there too, just a much darker one
