  • Wide gulf between having a permissive attitude to drugs and going full draconian like Singapore. Being draconian like that is a huge rule of law issue IMO, you can put someone in prison by smearing some drugs on their shoes.

IMO the issue with the west isn’t that they’re too soft, but that they often don’t go all the way - even the Netherlands, which is known for letting people legally buy and sell cannabis, doesn’t actually allow growing cannabis. There’s no way to legally acquire cannabis for the sellers in NL, it’s incredibly stupid.

  • Many fruit contain a lot of sugar and not all of them have such a strong laxative effect as apples. It’s harder to overeat on them than with cheese or bags of chips and they certainly contain a lot of healthy stuff like vitamins and fiber that many people are a bit short on, but it doesn’t take that much additional sugar in your diet to become overweight. It’s especially dangerous when you start processing them, e.g. smoothies or juices.

  • I should have been less willing to buy an electric bass that’s too heavy to me. I got a maple-body Jazz Bass ~10 years ago, back then it was kinda heavy but fine for me, today I’m quite a bit less fit than I was then and no amount of wide, cushioned straps are able to make this a good experience for me nowadays, and since I play lefty it’s a PITA to sell it. Until the shoulder and back pain kick in it does sound and play great, though.
IMO, Ibanez Soundgear has the best ergonomics as far as relatively affordable basses go that aren’t headless - pretty lightweight and yet the opposite of top-heavy. I never liked their sound out of the box, though, and aftermarket pickups that fit the cavities without woodworking are kinda expensive.
