i dropped Mark Roper when he said he loves his Tesla and plans on buying another. I just can’t deal with Nazi fanboys.

Renaissance Periodation. He kept suggesting to his viewers that we should check his facts against Chatgpt. His sex jokes got boring and repetitive.

Mostly, i drop a youtuber when i get bored with their content.

Theres something about JerryRigEverything that just makes me think that, one day, there will be news that breaks about him that will make Josef Fritzl look like a saint in comparison.

Totally irrational, but I just cant shake that gut feeling.

See that’s the thing for me too. He had this creep factor I couldn’t put my finger on. Seems wholesome and just wants kids to learn. Put entertaining science videos out, collaborates with other channels, and has the occasional mischief video where he screws with scammers. But the ick is still there for some reason.

Then he keeps shilling for Tesla knowing full well what that means and it becomes clear. You can have ick and be innocent of any crime. Some people just encode differently. But to have the ick and celebrate Tesla this late in the game…that combination always ends with missing kids under his backyard.

I don’t like putting that kind of thing into the ether, generally, especially when it’s based entirely on how they behave online.

But still… I dunno maybe it’s just Peter Pan syndrome or whatever. Though I feel like it’s rare that people like that excel enough in science to work at NASA (while having an actual personality lol)

Yeah, they imploded pretty quickly. The fight between him and GN, I hate them both now. I was mostly watching because I liked the hosts, the new hosts just aren’t as imformed. TBF the old hosts weren’t much more informed but they were entertaining. I used to watch them just to see them learn while i was screaming at the screen not to do something. The HR fiascos, the loss of talent, the “hot takes” that he self admits so he obviously knows better but can’t control himself.

          what scandal chasing?

The only reason anyone hyper focuses on GN is because Linus had a big narcissistic meltdown over being “betrayed” cause he thought his relationship with steve gave him the inside line to shutdown/have editorial say on stories about him/ltt, and thus went on an enormous goddamn tantrum over GN and its “betrayal” of him, when all it did was report facts.

Thats the only reason anyone hyperfocuses on GN. all GN did is repudiate claims and report news, and they did it with facts and receipts, to disprove all the bullshit that LTT spread in a desperate bid to save his image.

LMG had 3 big controversies that deserved being covered.

One was his “Just trust me bro, y u not trustin me bro” warranty on overpriced backpacks.

the whole controversy around billet labs video card heatsink which linus did so much wrong with that you’d be hard pressed to think it wasnt malicious, between using it on the wrong video card that it didnt fit and calling it shit, to not giving it back when requested, to selling it at auction, to lying about having spoken to billet and that they accepted his apology and made a plan to make amends while also having a big public meltdown making a joke of the whole thing and basically sic’ing his fans on GN for not talking to him privately so he could convince steve to not run the story or edit it in his favor. GN was not the only place reporting on this shit, GN was only the focus because Linus thought he could exert control and like a typical narcissist melted down when he couldnt.

And the latest one was the honey issue, Which he knew about, and silently stopped doing honey spots… while sitting back and watching honey steal from all his co creators.

Any one of which is a valid news thing to report on.

Her defending Eric Weinstein, the crackpot who pretty much everybody knows is a Peter Thiel-funded dickhead with a fake theory of everything, was especially crazy.

I also remember her defending Trump’s threats of taking away funding from a certain university, because the university was “anti-semitic” for allowing anti-Zionist protests, but can’t find the video now.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EERX9QyS-Xc - timestamp is 4:30 for her Zionism, though I recommend watching from the start to see her takes on ‘communism’ as well.

thats whats happening to her, i guess she far right herself. her video first caught notice, after her “why i left academia, or gave up being a physicist” im guessing she wasnt telling the whole truth to that video, she probably was so difficult to work with in academia, or a job that nobody wants to hire her, or her political leanings were annoying asf, at first she said something about being a woman and being ignored in the field dominated by men. im guessing people in the comments were right: she was the troublemaker.

How do you go full anti-science?

Just because she questions mainstream consensus science which has very little evidence going for it?

That’s what a good scientist does. They formulate hypothesis… Theories. Maybe they’re right or maybe they’re wrong. Who knows.

You don’t have to be infallibly correct to be a scientist.

Louis Rossman is 1000% a insufferable fucking cunt.

Just cause hes typically on the correct side of an argument and supports good things doesnt magically make his awful personality issues disappear, and his awful personality issues do matter when it comes to him wanting you to sit down for an hour and listen to him angry rant about shit.

If it were anyone but Rossman doing what Rossman does, they’d be accused of being a plant setup by the other side to make right to repair and its supporters look like unhinged assholes with his attitude and how he acts. (Edit. I am NOT saying thats what Rossman is, to be clear. I’m just saying if someone less known pulled the same shtick that is how it would come across)

I used enjoy the critical drinker. But his videos got anti-woke instead of just being critical of bad writing.

The last straw was him on a podcast agreeing with right wingers/maga/fascists.

I blocked him since then. Not sure if he was always like that or just fell down a dark rabbit hole.

Shadiversity. Guy made some really interesting videos breaking down different kinds of historical melee weapons, showing how, when, and why they were used. Genuinely interesting content until he started randomly spewing right wing nonsense a few years ago.

Pretty much every gun youtuber. So many of them have MAGA vibes. I used to like garandthumb, but his constant anti lgbt quips in the intros made it too hard to give him views

Crazy Russian Hacker/Taras Kul, videos were really explaining science in an interesting and funny way but now seem like TeleShopping but for useless items.

Techmoan. I used to be super into his content on old obscure stuff but it fell off a cliff for me a couple years ago. Instantly bored.

AvE when he started getting right wing preachy. Guy had a winning formula and destroyed it.

Electroboom. Similar to techmoan… Booooooring. I don’t care about the outlets in whatever country you are visiting this month.

John Oliver. It’s too depressing to find out what levels of depravity and corruption the ruling class is up to. I can’t handle it anymore.
