Fox News host Sean Hannity dedicated a segment of his Thursday show to deliver a message to Pope Leo XIV, suggesting he and others at the Vatican had totally lost sight of the true meaning of the bible and its teachings.
Hanity left the Catholic Church when he was having sexual affairs and wanted to divorce his wife.
That’s the reason. His excuse came later.
The Christian Nationalist shit for brains are making an attempt to teach religion to Pope Leo. GTFO and these clowns are identical to the Kremlin backed Orthodox lunatics who preach the Ukraine invasion is correct.
If you claim to be a Christian but deny the doctrine of Papal Infallibility, you are not Catholic; you are what they call schismatic.
Not all statements by the pope are regarded as infallible by Catholics. In fact, invoking infallibility is very rare. However Leo’s statements on the Iran War are very clearly in line with Catholic doctrine.
A key distinction between terms here is that while Catholics are probably the largest single Christian group in the US, a larger Christian percentage belongs to various Protestant groups. They already don’t care about the pope and think Catholics are wrong
My interpretation of imaginary bullshit created thousands of years ago is correct and yours isn’t
Hannity thinks he (and Trump) knows more about how the Bible should be read and interpreted than the Pope?..
Do these people even hear themselves?
Doesn’t matter. Magats hear, believe and obey.
It’s not so much MAGATs. How can the news allow people to say stuff like this to the public.
The real issue is our quality expectations to the news distribution
Its because its not news. They have the title of news outlet. However they are a conservative commentary channel, and they don’t consider facts, neutrality or decour.
Even they have admitted that they are not news: “In 2020, Fox News successfully defended a defamation lawsuit involving Tucker Carlson by arguing that his program was primarily entertainment rather than factual reporting”
And that no reasonable person would mistake it for actual news.
Which is profoundly stupid, how hard would it have been to get 50 people who all believe fox news is and only is factual news.
This is pretext for their base, to justify the Pope’s upcoming assassination by the US government.
Vance again?
That’s Vice President J(ust killed )D(a Pope) Vance for ya!
J(ust kille)D (a Pope)
ftfy
Nah I like “Da Pope” better for the D, good effort though.
Oooooh. I thought it was “Just killed d a pope”. Forgot about “da”. Thanks for clarifying!
Oh nah it’s cool! No worries. Yours is a good enough way to do it. Like I said I just like “Da Pope” better for the D, especially now with Pope Leo being from Chicago.
That’s a case I didn’t consider yet
The US are going to bomb the Vatican and send in the special forces to abduct the pope. It’s what they do.

I mean, this is pretty much a protestant viewpoint so… who cares?
They only hear the sound of cash flowing in their pockets
Yes they don’t care
Religion is a cloak they wear, they don’t really believe it
I mean MAGA is mostly made up of Protestants/Evangelicals. There was kinda a whole thing about thinking the pope was wrong
It’s quite interesting how close hannity is to trump, he has seen having golf meetings with him

^My basic understanding of whats going on.
Ex-cultist here. Specifically, fundamentalist Christian in the US.
So what we’re seeing here is a division between in-groups and out-groups, and drawing that circle closer as a means of guarding against valid criticism. Consider; the standard response of most cults when they are under attack is to double down on its assertions that it is telling the truth. Most cults are built with a persecution complex as key part of exploiting their believers.
This tactic triggers their emotional response to rally to the defense of their cause, because “We’re under attack! We’re being hunted! The Worst Thing Possible is going to happen, and it is THIS PERSECUTOR’S fault!” This also forces a false choice in members who are doubting the leadership, forcing them to either cut all social ties and side with the enemy (they are trained to see this as a fate worse than death) or rehearse their dogma and rally without question.
Ex-cultist here
Congrats on getting out.

^My basic understanding of whats going on.
We were explaining different things. Where I was giving a general summation of events, yours explains the motive. 2 sides to the same coin.
Be kind to others -Bible
It also says “kill others”, you should read it. LOTS of instructions on killing
There are many reasons not to be murderous, the Bible isn’t one of them. Does it say “do not murder?” YES. Does it also say “murder”. YES. Many times. Throughout.
Fixed
Lmao I love how folks are telling the VOICE OF GOD ON EARTH that he’s wrong.
(I’m an atheist and don’t believe it, but this whole situation is hilarious.)
Catholics are not real “Christians”. So they dont believe in the Pope’s position or respect the Pope.
I cannot fathom telling a guy who has dedicated his life to the church though that he doesn’t understand the bible. Then again that is the republican MO, if you think you know better than an expert clearly you do.
I’m going to be pedantic, but it’s the exact opposite of what you wrote. Catholics are a branch of Christians, who give more importance to the role of saints and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, among other differences.
So you should actually argue that they are not really Catholics, if they don’t recognize the authority of the Pope.I had to read their comment a few times, but I think when they said “they,” they were referring to people like Hannity.
Catholics are not real “Christians”. So they dont believe in the Pope’s position or respect the Pope.
Like “according to people like Hannity, Catholics are not real Christians. Therefore, people like Hannity don’t believe in the Pope’s position or respect the Pope”
Definitely a strange way to word it.
Catholics aren’t a “branch” of Christians, they are the tree itself. The first church, they dominated for many centuries, and still do, as this discourse proves; the Pope and church remain very influential
I mean the catholics have shaped all Christianity.
Be sure you don’t say this in front of an Orthodox Christian…
No they haven’t, not even all chalcedonian Christianity.
Yes they have, they dominated for many centuries, and are still the largest denomination.
Being the largest denomination does not mean they shaped all Christianity. In fact Christianity was shaped before the Catholics split, in the middle east and Asia Minor with Rome being a fringe player.
Their later innovations were mostly left unadopted by the other half of the church and also caused a new split resulting in major intra-Christian religious wars. In fact since Catholics are merely a plurality and not a majority most Christians reject, frankly an understatement, the defining characteristic of Catholicism, papal infallibility.
Catholics are as Christian as any other Christian.
The pope does understand the Bible, and he knows damn well that he’s misrepresenting it. That’s his job (and always has been).
Read the Bible, see for yourself. If you are short on time, just read Revelation (the last book).
p.s. my most hated comment ever! THANK YOU fuck the pope
This dude is fucking nuts. Revelation is easily the dumbest book of the bible to recommend.
Agreed.
I mean, it’s my favorite book of the Bible. But it’s the most easily misunderstood and misinterpreted. The whole thing is an allegory written in a particular kind of prose, drawing on tropes common to a genre of writing scholars call “apocalypse.” But given that even lifelong Christians are unaware of this fact means that this is definitely not the book to recommend reading as an entry point. Unless you’re looking for inspiration for something to airbrush on the side of your bitchin’ van (hopefully one with a crescent moon bubble window on the back). Then by all means flip to the section right before the maps and get to sketching!
ABSOLUTELY. I love the book of Revelation, but too many don’t understand how to read apocalyptic literature, nor do they understand the source material to contextualize the heavy symbolism. I blame a ton of the dumbshit premillenial dispensationalism crudely hobbled together to resemble a form of eschatology on a poor understanding of Revelation, Dallas Theological Seminary for spreading the fuck out of it, and Schofield for being the dipass to keep it from remaining the obscure hallucinogenic ramblings of a (probably) sick pentecostal woman in England. Man there are so many cool things about the theology of hope and some strong influences of Stoic philosophy(again), but man does American theology love to fetishize about the unbelievers facing a gruesome divine genocide…
I don’t really consider myself a Christian anymore, but I have read the bible during the time I did. The only people I ever knew who were way into revelations were fucking stupid ass old people like my wife’s grandfather who was a miserable vindictive old man who had no admirable traits whatsoever. He was also definitely not aware of the intended meaning, he just like the shit about non-believers finally getting theirs.
Reading that book without the context of other books of the bible and like Paul’s writing in particular is just plain stupid. But I think understanding of also kind of requires other theological understanding.
Reading that book without the context of other books of the bible and like Paul’s writing in particular is just plain stupid.
Knowing the context makes it worse in my opinion, but you do you.
You know what’s really stupid? Thinking Jesus is a beacon of peace, He’s horrifying. If you can’t handle Him murdering everybody in a rage, you can’t get through the Bible anyway.
The crescent moon window is… Chef’s kiss
It’s the only “cool” book the rest is boring nonsense.
The only people I have ever heard qout revelations, are nutters, and people trying to get money. It reads like biblical fanfic.
My favorite part is the giant people-faced Scorpions wearing gold hats.
Careful, or Pestilence will ride you down like a mangy dog, or something
You’ve gone hysterical… it is the dumbest book, and that’s why I recommend it.
Yes, please, read the apocalyptic fever dream of a crazy man as proof that god exists. I’m totally convinced!
I didn’t recommend it to convince people that God exists.
Why should anyone care what the bible says?
The Bible permeates the USA and its government, it’s very useful for understanding why things are the way they are.
Thing is, they claim that they care about religion. Not sure how many deadly sins they are gobbling up with all of that because something doesn’t add up.
They’re def breaking every single commandment
There’s a name for catholics who believe that the pope isn’t always right.
They are called protestants.
Catholicism only has one firm rule: The pope is always right, without exception. There’s nothing wrong with criticizing the pope. Just don’t call yourself a catholic if you do.
A friend of mine studied theology and said (when I remarked something similar) that that’s a very Protestant perspective.
Catholicism has had a long history of people disagreeing with the pope. There have been antipopes, wars between Catholics and the Papal State, theological factions where the Pope is just one participant, etc. . Papal infallibility is a very recent doctrine, and it only applies when he is speaking ex cathedra, which is rarely. Many Catholics don’t adhere to it, and many only consider it a matter of worldly convenience against schisms.
That said, there are no AI generated images of Trump wearing Papal vestments or overseeing the holy mass. Trump is not presented as an anti-Pope, but as an anti-Christ.
antipopes
Do they annihilate releasing huge amounts of energy if they touch the regular pope?
Yes.
That said, there are no AI generated images of Trump wearing Papal vestments or overseeing the holy mass.

I believe this was from before the new pope was decided.
Well, technically the Pope is only infallible with respect to cathedral matters:
The definition of the doctrine of papal infallibility was promulgated on July 18, 1870, in the dogmatic constitution Pastor aeternus (Latin: “Eternal Shepherd”) of the First Vatican Council. This document states the conditions under which a pope may be said to have spoken infallibly, or ex cathedra (“from his chair” as supreme teacher). It is a prerequisite that the pope intend to demand irrevocable assent from the entire church in some aspect of faith or morals.
And since the dogma of infallibility was proclaimed close to 200 years ago, there have only been two instances it has been invoked.
That’s not really true at all though. The pope isn’t always right, without exception. He’s only infallible on matters of faith or morals, and on doctrine which is stated as being the view of the church and which invokes his supreme authority. Popes are capable of being wrong, making mistakes, or sinning.
It is a lot more nuanced then that, but for many catholics that is how it is.
I’m sorry, but this is BS.
The Church is run by people and people are fallible.
Bishops sign their names with an upside down cross to remind themselves that they are sinners who make mistakes.
A shocking number of saints are people martyred for standing up to the Church when it had become corrupt.
It’s a Catholic’s duty to stand for what is right.
Except for when boys are diddled. That’s kept hush hush and the diddlers get to live in a protected “country” that probably has their own “Epstienish” activities going on
Hannity doesn’t call himself Catholic, and that’s also not exactly true.
As an ex-Catholic: Catholics only have to accept things that the Pope says ex cathedra, which means he has to make a formal, official statement speaking for the Church, not just expressing his personal views. You can also criticize the Pope’s behavior, the Pope is still a sinner like everyone else, only Jesus is without sin. That’s how Catholics deal with all those mideval popes having gay harems and stuff, and it’s also how they deal with all the times the Church was wrong, like claiming that the sun revolved around the earth.
Infallibility has to be limited in scope or it wouldn’t be possible to weasel out of things.
bro, I am muslim so I have no idea how christian values work but even I can see this is heresy to an unbelievable degree. Your president calls himself the second Jesus, you cannot defend him against any religious person at that point, let alone the Pope.
Where I’m at the Christians have mostly completely lost the plot. There’s this complete perversion of the faith called Prosperity Gospel that basically believes money is proof of divine blessing. So being rich is proof you’re in Gods favor.
Also where I am there’s is non-0 number of Christians who legitimately believe we/someone needs to rebuild ancient buildings in the middle east so Jesus can return.
It’s a death cult that believes money is proof that God approves of you. While simultaneously believing unending war/genocide in the middle east is a necessary evil. So they can just shrug their shoulders while people are slaughtered and say “God works in mysterious ways!”

This is a mess of America’s making.
You’re going to have to fix it yourselves.
(Unless it gets so bad that you guys are an existential threat to the rest of the planet - then the rest of the world might be forced to take action that nobody wants)
I understand, thoughts and prayers will suffice inshallah.
Gets so bad?
When the idiots invade Canada then we will come over to undo your failed experiment.
Actually, for a fascist it’s very easy. When words dont really mean anything and your ideology demands no consistency you can say what you want and defend the indefensible. If you think that rational people would see through all that you’re right, but their followers arent. They’ve been trained for over forty years to be led by the nose by their media peer group. Be it conservative news or Facebook posts or green text or their local evangelical demigogue, whatever it is they will be told what they want to hear. Trump is right, and by extention they are right too. And to question it is to put at risk all the relationships they’ve built up over their lifetime. To be wrong is too risky, so they simply arent. And people like Sean Hannity can say whatever they want without question.
Well said. It’s brutal to see this happen to Christian family members. It’s impossible to penetrate
suggesting he and others at the Vatican had totally lost sight of the true meaning of the bible
The parts of the bible he is talking about:
‘King David had 500 concubines, for crying out loud’
(him defending Trump in 2016, according to Wikipedia)
So this is how they justify pedophiles
I mean yeah, that’s the one thing the Pope and Trump would agree on.
Mary was, what, ~14 when their deity impregnated her, so yeah… Their baseline is not well calibrated.
And the part of the Bible he was talking about isn’t even in the Bible. It says David had concubines, but it doesn’t say how many.
It does tell us that Solomon had 300 concubines (in addition to 700 wives). Solomon expanded on his father’s excesses, so David probably had a more modest number of women in his household.
I’m sure Fox personalities wouldn’t really care that atheists know more about the Bible than they do. My money is on most of them not actually believing anything they say on TV. (Remember those text messages about Trump?)
These people would be so funny, if they weren’t so dangerous.
Kinda like chimps, they’re funny at the zoo, but give them machine guns
hell Chimps are scary without them. Have you read the recent story about the massive chimp civil war going on?
Obviously it’d be dangerous regardless but it got me thinking…does a chimp have the fine motor control to operate a firearm?
If there’s ever been a finer time to fuck around and find out I wouldn’t know… Being European, getting access to enough guns for a proper study is impossible for me. Of course we can just throw a single gun into a single enclosure, but that wouldn’t produce reliable results. But if somebody living in a place with laxer gun laws would get on board, I’d let them get their name on the article as number two and not et al.
Oh, that sounds fun. Sounds like something the RNC would love for the conventions. Go to support the 2nd amendment afterall.
Made me think of wolves and sheep.
Which in turns make me think of Billy Simons Jr’s “they made a pig the pilot”… Guess that next on the playlist

Y’all raised in normal places have no idea how much the average Evangelical thinks the Catholic church is straight up Satanic. My parents swore up and down when I was a kid that Pope JP2 was entirely evil to the core, as were all Catholics other than JFK, ironically.
Maybe 98.5% of Faux News viewers didn’t bat an eye at this, and took yet another Big swig of the Kool-aid. This is an absolutely normal perspective for American Evangelicals.
You wanna hear something that’ll absolutely destroy whatever little faith in humanity you may have left?
I once knew a guy who knew for a fact that Southern Baptist was the only true Christian religion. His reasoning? And he was absolutely dead serious when he said this and for him is was 100% a mic drop moment:
“Because his name was John the Baptist, not John the Catholic!”
This was something his aunt had said to him years ago, which I guess underscored its infallibility. He was by far the dumbest person I had ever met, and I’ve met a lot of dumb people.
They’re all like that. They memorize some glib one-liner and think by doing so they know more than scientists, historians, doctors. It’s what happens when you say to narcissists, “Yes, you ARE speaking for/to God!” You create ignorant monsters.
You wanna hear something that’ll absolutely destroy whatever little faith in humanity you may have left?
Oh, my friend, I’ve met modern slaves and child brides. Faith in humanity ceased to be a whole category of emotion I can hold onto decades ago.
“Because his name was John the Baptist, not John the Catholic!”
The real irony is that this is a running joke from non-Baptist sects, but Baptists sometimes buy into it, and not to drag this down a pedantic road, but there is a whole thing about Baptists claiming some unbroken line of baptism as a practice back to JtB.
Then again, you have never meet me.
When I was a teenager in the '90s, my mom’s church did a six-week series of lessons on Wednesday nights about how the Catholic church only pretends to be Christian, followed by another series of lessons about how the Pope meets all of the criteria to be the Antichrist.
As Jesus said, “Love your neighbor, but only if he believes in me in exactly the same way you do.”
Aw, my Mom would have LOVED that. I think she just had talk radio and a few random books from the local Christian book store to push her into that corner.
Jesus says that when He returns He will murder everyone who doesn’t bow to Him. The resulting lake of blood will be miles wide and as deep as “a horse’s bridle”.
Wait, there was a secret John Paul the 3rd??? No wonder they thought he was evil!!!
LOL, sorry, my bad. I just remembered that he was Polish, I forgot which number JP he was.
Am I wrong, or is the thing the Pope said that has these freaks so upset basically like, “war is bad, don’t do it”?
I mean for fuck sake…
Just a distraction
What gets me is that the Pope is just saying pretty basic Christian teachings. Simply the kinds of stuff Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount. And the media is like “LOOK HE’S ATTACKING TRUMP!” The fact that he doesn’t really specify the USA or anything says a lot about the state of things, where the basic Gospel of Jesus Christ is seen as inherently confrontational to the MAGA agenda.
As an atheist, this is high popcorn season 🍿 And just when you think, US Americans can not behave more brainless, they start a feud with the pope. Is there anyone left they haven’t pissed off?
Putin?
Bibi?
Who is Hannity?
- Housepainter.
- He attended but did not graduate from:
-
- Sacred Heart Seminary
-
- St. Pius Seminary
-
- New York University
-
- Adelphi University
-
- 1989 Volunteered as a DJ at KCSB, Santa Barbara, was fired, show dismissed.
- 1990’ish - got another job at WVNN, Alabama
- proceeded to talk on the radio …
Why does this matter? - because it shows that Hannity doesn’t matter. Any more than the 12 of us in this thread. - He is alive and has a mouth, are his accomplishments and skills, Yet his thoughts and opinions are played across the loudspeakers of the camp.
Why does this matter? - because it shows that Hannity doesn’t matter
While I understand what you’re saying, Hannity absolutely matters because millions of people listen to his bullshit. His past doesn’t matter as he is a powerful propagandist now.
Agreed, he definitely is. My goal is to dissipate the ‘aura of authority’ on him in peoples minds, and show him for what he is, with hopes that the magic will wear off.
